A Case Study: Broadband Over Powerline for Rural Area Deployment in Sarawak
نویسندگان
چکیده
Broadband over powerline (BPL) is a technology that allows connectivity to internet connection riding via the low tension (LT) power line communication (PLC). A hybrid BPL was proposed rural area of Sarawak as an alternative option expand without need reform new pathway for connectivity. The data signal transmitted tower access point(s) mounted on electricity pole provides voltage (LV) line. There are three types custom-designed equipment has been integrated into BPL: Head End (HE), Time Division Repeater (TDR) and Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). Two longhouses at Bawang Assan, settlement chosen initiate pilot project required cooperation provider, producer, service provider. This paper presents proof concept (POC) deployment, advantages, limitations in setting.

The need to introduce technologies in rural areas so as to capacitate communities towards overcoming various socio-economic challenges remains a priority in emerging economies. We rely on the foregoing for the investigation in the Kgautswane community in South Africa, of a range of socio-economic challenges that can be addressed through ICT. Identified challenges are further filtered for the se...
متن کاملBroadband PowerLine Communications: Performance Analysis
Power line channel is proposed as an alternative for broadband data transmission especially in developing countries like Tanzania [1]. However the channel is affected by stochastic attenuation and deep notches which can lead to the limitation of channel capacity and achievable data rate. Various studies have characterized the channel without giving exactly the maximum performance and limitation...
متن کاملModelling of Broadband Powerline Communication Channels
This paper develops a new PLC model and investigates the impact of the load, line length, and diameter of the transmission line on the channel transfer function over the frequency range of 120 MHz. The results show that with 42 degrees of freedom, the proposed model leads to an average RMSE value of approximately 5.2 dB. With the same conditions, the Phillips model leads to an average RMSE valu...
